Gumwrk is as much a platform for my design as it is a driver—a space that will evolve as my work does and as I do too. However the medium of the craft, consistency is my only tether.
That said, let’s pause the gumwrk act for a moment and appreciate what moves me to create in the first place.
Up from my laptop, I’ve developed an expensive taste for rock climbing—specifically bouldering.
Membership fees aside, bouldering is a fantastic physical and social activity. Beyond learning all of the silly jargon, bouldering fulfills me through the utter amount of failure that comes before reward in this sport. Countless falls make each summit that much sweeter, and going through it all among a positive, growing bouldering community is what really solidifies the experience.
I climb once or twice a week now, and honestly would more frequently if my arms and wallet would allow it.
In any context, music pulls me uniquely inward.
Songwriting, however, is where I am most pushed creatively, perfect for learning more about myself, the world, and how I view that relationship.
Similarly, DJing allows me to interact with music in a new way. Though a less agile mode than production, I find the rigidity of song selection actually pushes me to be more resourceful in crafting narratives.

Language learning keeps my brain on its toes…
In 2023, I felt like it had become too comfy in the scope of life it knew. I looked at ways I could break its stasis and observe how that might impact my energy, creativity, mental health and so on—enter Korean.
Over the course of a year, I studied and gained a new appreciation for Korean culture, tested out my skills in bustling Seoul, connected with people I never would have, and discovered a keen interest in language learning.
Nowadays, I’m taking on Spanish.
I’M AT MY BEST WITH A BALANCED EXPRESSION OF SELF—FLEXIBLE, UNFIXED AND OPEN.
‘Styled differently but the same’ is how I look at my connection with design, bouldering, music, and broadly any mode of self-expression.
In fact, I can’t say if any are more important to me than the consistency they create in unison. Sure, I spend more time in Photoshop than I do in a climbing gym, but I’d hesitate to let that—or anything, for that matter—dominate my sense of self.
I’ve sought comfort before in defining who I am—an artsy outcast, hopeful musician, or whatever other title that could provide a sense of belonging. Today, I find strength without these attachments. I’m drawn to all walks of life, and the freedom to explore them has revealed a powerful throughline—there is goodness to be found everywhere.
Gumwrk is a branch of this thought. Each push into design is led with optimism—a sense that there is always room for growth and the opportunity to change.
